The dismissal is reportedly linked to an attempted assassination plot targeting Komil Allamjonov, a former official in the Presidential Administration, the source claimed.
Azizov, 64, has served as the head of the SSS since February 2019. Before assuming this role, he held several high-profile positions in Uzbekistan’s government. From January to September 2017, he served as Minister of Internal Affairs, followed by a tenure as Minister of Defense from September 2017 to February 2019. Azizov was promoted to the rank of General-Lieutenant on January 14, 2019.
The circumstances surrounding his dismissal and the details of the alleged assassination attempt remain unclear, and there has been no official statement from the government.
