Uzbekistan’s embassy in Ukraine stays open despite heightened security concerns
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Uzbekistan has confirmed that its embassy in Ukraine remains operational and has not suspended its activities. The ministry shared this update in response to an inquiry from Kun.uz.

“The embassy continues its work in a routine manner and has not been closed,” an MFA representative said. However, the ministry emphasized that, given the current situation in Ukraine, citizens of Uzbekistan are being urged to exercise heightened vigilance.
This assurance comes in the wake of the temporary closure of several embassies in Kyiv due to security concerns. On November 20, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv announced a suspension of operations after receiving intelligence about a potential attack. Spain’s embassy in Ukraine also closed the same day, warning citizens via email about an increased threat of air strikes across Ukraine.
Additionally, neighboring countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan have advised their citizens to leave Ukraine if possible, citing safety concerns amid rising tensions in the region.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense has stated that its attacks are directed solely at Ukraine’s military and energy infrastructure, as well as related facilities.
