The main focus of Mirziyoyev’s visit is participation in the COP29, where he will engage in high-level discussions addressing pressing global environmental issues. Additionally, he is set to hold a series of bilateral meetings with heads of state and leaders of international organizations on the sidelines of the conference.
The delegation of Uzbekistan at COP29 plans to organize several high-profile events that will address climate-related challenges, particularly land degradation, desertification, and the importance of environmental education. These initiatives are expected to underscore the role of youth in advancing climate action and sustainable practices.
A dedicated Uzbekistan National Pavilion will host over 20 side events spotlighting various environmental and social initiatives. Key topics will include solutions to ecological issues in the Aral Sea region, the development of a green economy, adoption of renewable energy and water conservation technologies, food security, and biodiversity preservation.
Through these engagements, Uzbekistan aims to strengthen its contribution to the global climate agenda while fostering partnerships that promote sustainable development across Central Asia and beyond.
