The Kyrgyz information-analytical portal Alliance-press.kg published an article titled “International Transport Relations with OTS Member States Developing Rapidly,” detailing the expanding transport and communication connections. These ties play a crucial role in the economic progress of OTS nations and contribute to regional development.
According to the report, Uzbekistan’s trade volume with OTS countries reached $10 billion last year, with exports accounting for $3.6 billion and imports for $6.4 billion. For 2023, Uzbekistan’s total cargo volume in exports and imports with OTS countries reached 15.5 million tons, representing 24% of the country’s overall international freight traffic. Of this, 72% involved Kazakhstan, while Kyrgyzstan accounted for 21% or 3.3 million tons. Trade with Azerbaijan reached 69,500 tons, and trade with Turkey totaled 937,800 tons.
Uzbekistan’s overall trade turnover with OTS member states in 2023 amounted to $8.7 billion.
Significant strides in transport cooperation were achieved at the 9th OTS Summit on November 11, 2022, with landmark agreements signed, including the “Agreement on Joint International Freight Transport among OTS Members” and the “Program on Transport Connectivity.” These agreements have laid the groundwork for streamlined logistics and enhanced trade among Turkic states, underscoring the organization’s commitment to economic integration and mobility across the region.
