China to establish skill-development centers in Uzbekistan for labor migrants
China is set to open specialized centers in Uzbekistan aimed at enhancing the skills of labor migrants, following discussions between Uzbek consular officials and representatives of China’s Nanjing Polytechnic Institute. The initiative, led by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan, was a key focus of a recent meeting with Shan Weilai, Director of the Institute’s Department of International Cooperation and Exchange.

The discussions highlighted the potential for cooperation between Uzbekistan’s higher education institutions and Nanjing Polytechnic Institute. One central proposal involved creating avenues for Uzbek students to receive advanced training in fundamental professions at the institute, aiming to prepare highly skilled specialists in technical and vocational fields.
The talks also emphasized the importance of establishing skill-development centers in Uzbekistan specifically for migrant workers. These centers will enable workers to gain specialized training, thereby enhancing their qualifications for international labor markets.
Given China's extensive experience in vocational education and skill development, both sides expressed interest in implementing joint projects to ensure Uzbek workers are well-prepared and meet the demands of global employment standards.
As a next step, the parties agreed to arrange a working visit for a delegation from Nanjing Polytechnic Institute to Uzbekistan, where they will discuss the proposed projects and programs in greater detail.
