According to preliminary information obtained by Kun.uz, there are two possible explanations for the tragedy. In one version, guests at the home may have unknowingly left a methane gas cylinder open in the kitchen, leading to gas accumulation throughout the night. In the second, natural gas was restored to dormant pipes within the home, causing a leak.
The deceased include a man, his son, and two female guests, according to sources. Four additional individuals present in the house were taken to the hospital, where their condition is reported to have stabilized.
Muslimbek Ibragimov, a spokesperson for the Andijan regional government, confirmed the tragic incident but withheld further details pending the completion of the investigation. “The details of this incident remain unclear,” Ibragimov stated. “While gas poisoning seems highly probable, it would be premature to make definitive statements that could only generate speculation.”
Andijan’s regional police department also noted that the incident is being investigated by higher authorities rather than local law enforcement.
Sources further revealed that the head of the affected household was an imam from a nearby village who had recently been working at a madrasa in Andijan city.
