The recent confusion arose after the Ministry of Ecology’s Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy introduced a new billing software, Toza Makon-billing, to streamline waste collection payments. Due to this rollout, maintenance work on the system is scheduled from October 31 at 23:50 until November 5 at 23:50, potentially causing temporary technical interruptions for all waste collection transactions and account updates.
According to the agency, payment disruptions or restricted access to account information, including changes to user data, may occur during this period. Misinterpretations of this message reportedly led to rumors that consumers with unpaid waste bills would lose access to electricity.
The electricity company has reassured the public that it is only conducting system maintenance related to the president’s directive aimed at improving waste management and reducing its environmental impact. While new regulations may, in the future, suspend electricity payments for consumers with overdue waste fees after official notice, there are currently no plans for disconnection.
This new management system was initially set to be implemented across Uzbekistan from June 1 of this year.
