The Global Rule of Law Index, an annual assessment by the World Justice Project, measures countries on various indicators such as limitations on government powers, absence of corruption, open government, human rights, law enforcement, civil justice, and criminal justice systems.

While Uzbekistan performed relatively well in terms of safety and security, achieving its highest score in this category, its performance in other areas remained average compared to global standards.

The report notes that this is the first time in eight years that Uzbekistan has seen a decline in its ranking. The country previously maintained a steady or improving position in the index since 2016.

Among the top five countries in the 2024 ranking are Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Germany. In Central Asia, Kazakhstan ranked 65th, Kyrgyzstan 101st, and Russia 113th.
