In an official statement, the Consulate General reminded Uzbek citizens that, under national law, their foreign citizenship will not be recognized until a presidential decree is issued to that effect. As a result, any Uzbek citizen participating in military actions abroad will be held accountable under Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.

The diplomatic mission referred to Article 154 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which classifies "mercenary activities" as illegal. This includes any involvement in foreign armed conflicts or military operations. Violations of this law can result in prison sentences of up to 10 years.

"All individuals found guilty of engaging in these illegal activities will be subject to prosecution without exception," the statement read, underscoring that there will be no leniency for those who take part in such activities.

The Consulate further advised citizens to remain cautious and avoid being swayed by calls to join military actions abroad.
