Kazakhstan outpaced Uzbekistan with a total of 130 tons of gold extracted, an increase of 15 tons from 2022. Meanwhile, Russia remained the largest gold producer in the region, maintaining its 2022 production level of 310 tons.
Globally, gold production in 2023 totaled 3,000 tons, which is 60 tons less than the previous year. The U.S. Geological Survey has not yet released updated figures for Kyrgyzstan’s gold production in 2023, but in 2022, the country produced 25.3 tons of gold.
Despite the slight decrease in production, Uzbekistan remains one of the key gold-producing nations in the region, while global production saw a modest decline overall.
