Tatarstan plans to open two new industrial parks in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Tatarstan Rais reports.
On August 26, on the sidelines of the oil and gas chemical forum in Kazan, the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov. The Rais noted the growth in mutual trade, which in 2023 increased by 27% to $370 million.
“It is necessary to increase the volume and range of mutual supplies of goods and services. We have everything we need for this,” he said.
In addition, Minnikhanov announced the plans of “leading Tatarstan companies” to create industrial parks in the Navoi FEZ and in the Bukhara region. He noted that “this is a good contribution to strengthening the partnership” between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan.
In March 2022, the first technology park with Tatarstan’s participation opened in Chirchik. The site currently has more than 20 investment projects, and products are exported to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
In April last year, the second joint Uzbek-Tatarstan technology park began operating in Jizzakh. The site was planned to be used to localize the production of foreign companies.
