On August 23, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on improving state control in the fuel and energy sector, the legal information channel of the Ministry of Justice reported.
The Inspectorate for Control over the Use of Electricity, Oil Products and Gas (Uzenergoinspeksiya) is being transferred from the Ministry of Energy to the direct control of the Cabinet of Ministers. The agency receives the status of an independent executive body.
The tasks of Uzenergoinspeksiya will include control over the implementation of energy management systems by enterprises consuming more than 500 tons of equivalent fuel annually.
The Inspectorate will issue qualification certificates to energy auditors who will inspect large consumers. In addition, it will outline the minimum requirements for measuring laboratories of energy service companies.
The inspection will also have a department responsible for improving energy efficiency and implementing international standards in this area. Another department will be responsible for the digitalization of energy supervision.
In July, the president announced the transfer of the construction inspection to the Cabinet of Ministers. At the same time, he announced the expansion of its powers, including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to identify violations at construction sites.
