In the Tashlak district of the Fergana region, construction has begun on an Uzbek-Chinese metal processing plant, as reported by the regional administration.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the plant took place in the "Taraqqiyot" industrial zone on August 17, with the participation of governor Khayrullo Bazarov. The project is being implemented by Shangdong Aipurui Steel Plate Co. Ltd.
According to the local partner, Nodirjon Ruziboev, the plant will meet the domestic demand for metal products and will also be able to export some of its output. The investment in the project is estimated at over $120 million.
The plant is planned to be built in three stages, with a total of 500 jobs created. The launch of the first phase is expected in the first quarter of 2025.
As noted by the administration, the project investors have already established a legal entity under the name of the Fergana Metallurgical Plant. An agreement to establish the joint venture was signed at the groundbreaking ceremony.
In July, the Chinese company Da Fu opened a metal structures plant in the Yangiyul district. It can produce up to 500 tons of products annually.
