Urgench International Airport will resume operations on August 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM Tashkent time. Construction and repair work were completed ahead of the scheduled time. According to the plan, repair work at the airport was supposed to be completed by August 7, Uzbekistan Airports reports.

It should be noted that Urgench International Airport temporarily ceased operations on July 20 of this year due to the start of major repairs on the runway. During the reconstruction period, all flights were redirected to Nukus International Airport, and all passengers were provided with transportation to Nukus Airport.

"It should be emphasized that a large volume of work was completed within two weeks. In particular, the 3,000-meter-long and 45-meter-wide runway was resurfaced and reinforced, and the second and third taxiways underwent major repairs. This allows the airport to accept wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 without restrictions and, in turn, increase the number of flights and passenger traffic to Urgench city.

The last major reconstruction of the runway in Urganch city was carried out in 1997, and partial repairs of the damaged sections were done in 2018," the report says.
