Over 5,000 citizens of Uzbekistan relocated abroad for permanent residency in H1 2024

In the first half of the year, more than five thousand Uzbekistani citizens moved to various countries for permanent residence.

The majority of those who moved—4,128 people (81.5% of the total)—went to Kazakhstan. In addition, 760 people moved to Russia, 34 to Kyrgyzstan, 37 to South Korea, 14 to Turkmenistan, and 93 to other countries for permanent residence.

In January–June, 1,080 people moved to Uzbekistan from foreign countries for permanent residence. The majority of them were citizens of Russia (36.1%) and Kazakhstan (24.1%).

In the first half of this year, the number of people moving from one region to another within the country was 116,600 (compared to 106,300 in the same period of 2023). Of these, 50,700 were men and 65,900 were women. The number of people who moved to cities was 87,000, and to rural areas was 29,600.

The highest number of internal migrants was recorded in Tashkent city (44,605 people), and the lowest in Namangan region (1,649 people).

During the six months, 120,600 people moved out of the republic (compared to 113,700 in the same period of 2023). Of these, 52,800 were men and 67,800 were women. The number of people who moved from cities was 83,900, and from rural areas was 36,700.

The highest number of those who moved out was from Tashkent city (35,540 people), and the lowest from Namangan region (2,710 people).
