Legislative Chamber establishes liability for unlicensed psychological assistance

The Legislative Chamber considered in the second reading the draft law "On Providing Psychological Assistance to the Population".

The draft law clearly defines the main principles, tasks, types, forms, and standards of providing psychological assistance to the population. It also outlines the rights and obligations of participants in the field of psychological assistance, the categories of individuals eligible for free psychological assistance, the provision of psychological assistance in educational institutions, the issues of conducting research and scientific experiments in this field, and the grounds for refusing or terminating psychological assistance. The legal foundations for the activities of professional associations in the field of providing psychological assistance are being established.

It is being established that individuals with higher education in fields other than psychology must undergo retraining for the specialty of psychology before engaging in private practice to provide psychological assistance.

The Code of Administrative Responsibility is being supplemented with a specific article that establishes liability for individuals who provide psychological assistance without the right to do so or who do not comply with the restrictions established by laws regarding the provision of psychological assistance to the population.

The draft law was adopted by deputies in the third reading and sent to the Senate.
