Government announces privatization of Humo payment system
The State Assets Management Agency has unveiled plans to privatize its 100% stake in the Humo payment system via a public negotiation process.
The privatization will proceed in three stages: expression of interest, collection of non-binding proposals, and collection of binding proposals. At the final stage, bidders must submit a guarantee payment amounting to at least 1% of their proposed binding price offer.
Deloitte, a global firm in the "Big Four" accounting group, will serve as the consultant for the Agency on this project.
It is worth noting that the National Interbank Processing Center, known as Humo, is a key component of Uzbekistan’s payment system. Humo operates with banking payment cards for transactions both within Uzbekistan and internationally. The company holds a license from the Central Bank, which is required to function as a payment system operator.
The company’s authorized capital is 155.4 billion UZS. Currently, over 27 million Humo cards have been issued, with more than 210,000 terminals and over 6,400 ATMs installed.
