Two lawyers in Fergana arrested for $50,000 bribe in sentencing case
State Security Service officers stopped the illegal activities of lawyers in Tashkent, Fergana, and Samarkand.

State Security Service officers, in collaboration with the Department of the General Prosecutor's Office, conducted operations on the ground.
In particular, two lawyers working at law firms in Fergana conspired together. They were caught with physical evidence when they received $50,000, promising to "resolve the issue" through their contacts in the court to change a sentence of 6 years and 8 months in a colony to a different, non-custodial sentence.
A lawyer from a Tashkent law firm, previously convicted multiple times, demanded $100,000 in exchange for using his contacts in the prosecutor's office and internal affairs to recover 6 billion of the 12 billion UZS in damages in favor of the victim within a criminal case being investigated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Investigation Department. The case was opened under Part 3, Article 167 (a) of the Criminal Code against officials of a textile production company. However, he was caught red-handed receiving $50,000 of the requested amount.
Operations continued, resulting in the arrest of the lawyer's colleague involved in this illegal activity and his acquaintance, a former prosecutor, as they received $30,000 of the $50,000.
A previously convicted lawyer from a Samarkand law firm was caught with physical evidence when he received $5,000 from a citizen living in the Akdarya district in exchange for help in dissolving a legal marriage through contacts in the judicial system.
Criminal cases have been initiated against the detainees under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are ongoing.
