Central Bank injected additional 4.1 trillion UZS in cash in H1 2024

In January-June 2024, total cash receipts amounted to 385 trillion UZS, a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This was reported by the Central Bank's information service.

During the reporting period, the share of terminal receipts in total cash receipts increased from 38% in the first half of 2023 to 41%, with the share of terminal receipts from trade and services increasing from 40% to 45%.

In the first half of 2024, the volume of cash turnover through banks amounted to 458 trillion UZS (cash receipts - 227 trillion UZS, disbursed cash - 231 trillion UZS), a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

No significant changes were observed in the structural composition of cash receipts to banks.

In the first six months of 2024, 468 trillion UZS were credited to bank cards. This figure is 1.3 times higher than the same period in 2023, with 107 trillion UZS in bank cards being withdrawn in cash during this period.

In January-June, 23% of the funds credited to bank cards were withdrawn in cash, compared to 24% in the same period in 2023 (28% in 2022).

The difference between the cash received by banks and the demand for it was met by the Central Bank through the introduction of additional cash into circulation.

Specifically, 4.1 trillion UZS in additional cash were introduced into circulation by the Central Bank over six months. As of July 1, 2024, the share of cash in the total money supply was 21.1%, a decrease of 3.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
