Fergana region to establish industrial zones based on China’s experience

As Spot previously reported, the President held a meeting in Kuva on the socio-economic development of the Fergana region.

Recently, the Kokand SEZ was expanded by 210 hectares. Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to approve projects worth $200 million for implementation in this territory, and next year – for $500 million.

An industrial zone is also being created in Kokand, where it is planned to implement projects worth $1 billion and 10 thousand jobs. A chemical technology park with projects worth $100 million will be created on the territory of the Kokand Mechanical Plant, and Indorama intends to unite the plant in Kokand and Ferganaazot into a cluster.

The President called for the creation of industrial zones in 19 districts and cities based on Chinese experience with specialization in a particular industry. A new directorate under the regional administration will manage the zones and hand over their structures to business.

In large mahallas it is planned to build local industrial centers of 4-5 floors. $50 million will be allocated to create infrastructure for industry, which the region will be able to manage independently.

It is also planned to implement projects in the energy, oil and gas and chemical sectors worth $2 billion. These include two solar power plants, the construction of which began the day before.

It was instructed to speed up the launch of the production of thermopolished glass in Tashlak for $120 million, a building materials plant in the Uzbekistan region for $80 million. It is planned to create a porcelain stoneware plant and an electric gas station factory in Kuvasoy.

In addition, a modern enterprise for breeding cotton seeds will be created in 2025. High-yielding raspberry varieties from Italy and Poland will be planted in the Fergana region, and peach, cherry, and almond gardens will be created in Kushtepa and Yozyovon.

The President supported the initiative to create refrigerated warehouses for 50-100 tons of fruit in order to double the export potential of gardeners and reduce losses by 25%. In 4 districts, it was ordered to launch enterprises for sorting and processing 10 thousand tons of fruits and vegetables.

The state compensates part of the interest on loans taken for the implementation of projects. In addition, in the Kuvasay district, more than 600 farmers will receive land tax benefits.

In the city of Kuva, it is proposed, together with Russian investors, to build an agrological center with a capacity of 100 thousand tons for $20 million. Saudi partners will help organize the production of spare parts for cooling and heating systems.

In addition, in five mahallas of Kokand it is planned to implement the “Mahalla massivi” program – to build houses with 7-10 floors and allocate apartments primarily to residents of these mahallas. In Margilan, a block of “New Uzbekistan” will be built with 30 thousand apartments with a shopping complex, a business center, schools and clinics.
