The grand ceremony was organized at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory in Tashkent.
It was attended by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, the Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva, heads of ministries, the National Olympic Committee, federations, athletes, and media representatives.
It was officially announced that world boxing champion and Asian Games winner Abdumalik Khalokov, along with fencing Asian Games winner and "Shuhrat" medal holder Zaynab Dayibekova, will be the flag bearers of the delegation at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
In his speech at the event, Abdulla Aripov mentioned the prize money that will be awarded by the state to the winners and medalists of the Olympic Games. According to him, Olympic champions will receive $200,000, silver medalists $100,000, and bronze medalists $50,000.
For reference, Uzbekistan’s sports delegation secured 32nd place in the overall team standings at the last Summer Olympics in Tokyo, winning 3 gold and 2 bronze medals.
It should be noted that at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Uzbek athletes were also promised $200,000 for a gold medal, $100,000 for a silver medal, and $50,000 for a bronze medal. In addition to the cash prizes, champions were also awarded a Tahoe car and a three-room house, while bronze medalists received $50,000, a Trailblazer car, and an apartment.
