Ambassador Furqat Sidiqov has presented his credentials to the Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon, the Dunyo information agency reports.
Following the presentation ceremony, the Governor General of Canada acknowledged being well-informed about the consistent socio-economic and democratic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, as well as the country’s achievements in ensuring good neighborliness, interethnic harmony, and open-mindedness in Central Asia.
She emphasized that these efforts are fully supported by the Canadian government and create a foundation for expanding bilateral relations.
It was highlighted that the economies of Uzbekistan and Canada have great potential for further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. With this in view, the initiation of regular economic visits and trade mission exchanges was proposed.
It should be noted that Ambassador Furqat Sidiqov presented his credentials as the ambassador to the United States to President Joe Biden in May 2023. Thus, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to the US also defends the honor of Uzbekistan in Brazil and Canada.
Furqat Sidiqov succeeded Javlon Vahobov, who served as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to the United States, as well as to Canada and Brazil, from 2017 to 2023.
