The Statistics Agency published data on industrial production for January-May 2024.

It is noted that in the first 5 months of this year, gas production amounted to 18.8 billion cubic meters, which is less by 1 billion cubic meters, or 5.2%, compared to the corresponding period last year.

Gas production indicators for January-May 2024:

•  January – 3.99 billion cubic meters (4.31 billion cubic meters for the same period last year);
•  February – 3.71 billion cubic meters (3.85 billion cubic meters);
•  March – 3.89 billion cubic meters (4.16 billion cubic meters);
•  April – 3.7 billion cubic meters (3.94 billion cubic meters);
•  May – 3.52 billion cubic meters (3.6 billion cubic meters).

For information, in 2022 gas production decreased from 53.8 billion to 51.67 billion cubic meters, or by 4%, and in 2023 – from 51.67 billion to 46.71 billion cubic meters, or by 9.6%.

Change in natural gas production volumes from 2017 to 2023 (the Statistics Agency data):

•  2017 – 56 billion 417.6 million cubic meters;
•  2018 – 60 billion 396.5 million cubic meters;
•  2019 – 60 billion 537.5 million cubic meters;
•  2020 – 49 billion 736.2 million cubic meters;
•  2021 – 53 billion 802 million cubic meters;
•  2022 – 51 billion 678.4 million cubic meters;
•  2023 – 46 billion 710.3 million cubic meters.

Natural gas production in Uzbekistan has been steadily declining in recent years. In particular, for the period 2019-2023 this decrease was 22.8 percent. The decrease in domestic production is compensated by gas imports from Turkmenistan and Russia.

In the first 5 months, coal production amounted to 1901.5 thousand tons, which is less by 73.7 thousand tons or 3.7% compared to the same period last year.

Also during the reporting period, oil production decreased from 327.6 thousand tons to 305 thousand tons, and gas condensate production increased from 511.2 thousand tons to 527.5 thousand tons.

In January-May, electricity production decreased by 1.3% or 426 million kWh compared to the same period last year. In particular, over 5 months of 2023, 31.58 billion kWh of electricity was produced, while in the corresponding period of this year this figure decreased to 31.16 billion kWh.

During the reporting period, diesel fuel production decreased from 439.8 thousand tons to 384.4 thousand tons (-12.6%), and gasoline production increased from 550.8 thousand tons to 568.9 thousand tons (+3 .2%).
