Senators approved the bill “On introducing additions and changes to the “On the rights of persons with disabilities,” the press service of the parliamentary upper house reports.
In particular, changes are being made to create additional conditions to provide persons with disabilities with the rights to access justice, vote and be elected, participate in a referendum, as well as to receive education.
In addition, the Law “On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”, based on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, is supplemented by rules defining the forms of communication that can be used to communicate with persons with disabilities.
Grounds are also being introduced for adapting social infrastructure facilities for unhindered access to them by persons with disabilities.
According to senators, this law serves to ensure the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities by implementing generally recognized international norms and standards in the field of human rights and freedoms into national legislation.
