At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation and development of this industry in Uzbekistan based on Hungarian best practices.
Earlier, following the visit of the President of OTP Bank Group to Uzbekistan, which took place on February 12-13 this year, the main areas of cooperation between the two countries were identified, one of which was winemaking, including the creation of joint research centers and further joint production of wine in Uzbekistan. The Hungarian side, as the first stage for considering projects, identified a partner in the person of the management of the Institute of Viticulture and Oenology of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), which specializes in the selection and cultivation of new grape varieties.
During the meeting, Deputy Director General for International Cooperation Zsuzsanna Vagra spoke in detail about the activities of the institute and the structure of the campus in Budapest.
She expressed her readiness to assist in further strengthening cooperation in the development of winemaking and viticulture in Uzbekistan, and as a first step to identify possible areas of cooperation and priority projects, she proposed organizing a joint online meeting with interested Uzbek colleagues in September this year.
