During an operative event carried out by employees of the capital’s police department, two citizens suspected of fraud related to the sale of cars were detained.
It turned out that the detainees, having entered into a criminal conspiracy, placed advertisements on OLX for the purchase of cars above market prices, but on lease with an initial payment of $500-600.
The scammers paid for several months, and then disappeared and did not return the cars.
Thus, they purchased about 100 cars, which they resold to citizens in other regions.
Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under clause “a, b”, Part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code (Fraud committed on a large scale, using official position), a preventive measure was applied against them in the form of detention.
Citizens who have become victims of scammers are asked to report this to the Tashkent city DIA.
