US Border sees surge in migrant detentions from Uzbekistan

Since the beginning of October 2023, 57,200 illegal migrants have attempted to cross the southern border of the United States and reach as far as the state of California. Of those, 2,900 are citizens of Uzbekistan, Fox News reported with reference to the country's Customs and Border Protection service.

It is noted that of those detained, 27,583 are Chinese nationals, 8,900 are Indians, 7,800 are Turkish, 4,400 are Mauritanians, nearly 3,000 are Vietnamese, and 5,600 are from Guinea.

Between 2021 and 2023, 13,600 citizens of Uzbekistan attempted to enter the US illegally via Mexico. In this record, Turkey leads with 30,800 individuals, followed by Mauritania with 15,500.

Uzbek illegal labor migrants primarily attempted to enter the United States via the "Uzbekistan – Turkey (Spain) – Bolivia – Colombia – Mexico – US" route.
