The Russian government will do everything necessary to ensure decent working conditions and social protection for Uzbek labor migrants, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Tashkent.

"Allow me to emphasize: the Russian government will continue to do everything necessary to provide decent working conditions and social protection for the citizens of Uzbekistan who are working in our country," Putin said after negotiations between Russia and Uzbekistan.

He highlighted that over one million citizens of Uzbekistan live and work in Russia.

"Shavkat Miromonovich always pays high attention to this, and we just discussed it now. We highly value their significant contribution to the development of the Russian economy, particularly in rapidly developing sectors such as construction, housing and communal services, services, transportation, and logistics," Putin said.

Furthermore, Vladimir Putin underscored that remittances sent by migrants back to their homeland are a serious help for Uzbekistan.

"The money they send back to their homeland, I hope, is a significant aid for the economy of Uzbekistan, for families in various regions of the country," he added.
