During the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a number of joint events took place.
On May 26, the heads of state together visited the “Yangi O‘zbekiston” complex, where the Russian leader laid a wreath at the Independence Monument.
On May 27, high-level negotiations took place in narrow and expanded formats, during which the Presidents thoroughly discussed the entire range of current issues on the bilateral agenda, heard reports from members of delegations on key areas, and exchanged views on international and regional issues.
A Joint Statement of the Heads of State was signed, and intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents were exchanged.
Accompanied by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Vladimir Putin visited Victory Park, laid flowers at the foot of the “Ode to Fortitude” monument and got acquainted with the museum telling about Uzbekistan’s contribution to the Victory in World War II.
On the same day, the first meeting of the Council of Regions of the two countries was held under the chairmanship of the Presidents, at which priorities for further strengthening the interregional dialogue and filling it with new practical content were outlined.
At the end of the visit, President Vladimir Putin was escorted by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at Tashkent International Airport. The heads of state said a warm farewell to each other.
