Hungary may establish production of certain pharmaceuticals in Uzbekistan

At the meeting, it was emphasized that pharmaceuticals are one of the most promising and priority areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary.

During the negotiations, prospects for strengthening cooperation with the Gedeon Richter company in the medical and pharmaceutical fields were discussed.

Tamás Sojak emphasized that the company is interested in comprehensively expanding its presence in Uzbekistan, including in exploring the issue of establishing local production of certain types of medicines in the republic.

The head of the diplomatic mission of our country also visited the technological facilities of the production complex, where he got acquainted with the process of production and packaging of medical drugs, inspected the equipment and finished products.

In his interview, International Sales Director Andras Oros noted that the Gedeon Richter company has a long history of presence in the Uzbek market – since 1955.

“Today we discussed with the Ambassador how we can improve our cooperation. Currently, we supply a large number of drugs to Uzbekistan. We discussed the possibilities of establishing the production of certain drugs in Uzbekistan. We hope that we will be able to expand the company’s portfolio in Uzbekistan. We see great prospects in the Uzbek market,” Andras Oros said.

An introductory visit was organized for the Uzbek delegation to the company’s production sites in Budapest, where the latest technologies for the production of innovative drugs for export to the countries of the Middle East and China were presented.

For the Hungarian economy, the pharmaceutical industry is one of the traditional and most innovative sectors: about 90% of production is exported. Hungary is one of the twenty largest countries exporting and importing pharmaceutical products.

It should be recalled that Gedeon Richter is a Hungarian multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, which is the largest drug manufacturer in Eastern and Central Europe. The company produces about 200 generic and original drugs in more than 400 forms. When developing medicines, the company pays special attention to diseases of the central nervous system and women's reproductive health.

The representative office of JSC Gedeon Richter in Uzbekistan was accredited in 1996. More than 50 drugs of the company are presented on the Uzbek pharmaceutical market.
