The sixth consultative meeting of the leaders of Central Asian countries will be held on August 9 in Astana, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a meeting with the secretaries of the security councils of the countries of the region.
According to the president, the Strategy for the Development of Regional Cooperation “Central Asia – 2024” has been developed. Tokayev is confident that the adoption of this document at the summit will have conceptual significance for the region.
“We have developed a Strategy for the Development of Regional Cooperation “Central Asia – 2040”. The priorities of regional rapprochement are, first of all, aimed at expanding five-way interaction and strengthening the international subjectivity of Central Asia,” Tokayev said.
“The special nature of relations between our countries is enshrined in the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborhood and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century. It takes strategic partnership to a new level,” noted the President of Kazakhstan.
According to Tokayev, the main outcome of the summit may be the completion of the procedure for signing a historic treaty for Central Asia.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasized the high level of regional interaction “in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness and alliance”. At the same time, according to him, cooperation is not confined only to the region.
