Uzbekistan plans to attract Russian investments worth $5 billion in 2024

This year it is planned to absorb investments from Russia in the amount of $5 billion, the presidential press service reports.

Based on the results of the international industrial exhibition “Innoprom. Central Asia” a package of agreements worth $4 billion was adopted. In 2023, $3 billion of Russian investments were disbursed and 700 new companies were created with Russian participation.

“Today, the portfolio of joint [with Russia] projects exceeds $44 billion. Moreover, this year alone the task has been set to ensure the development of at least $5 billion of [Russian] investments. This task is absolutely doable. Specific plans, network diagrams, road maps have been prepared in all areas, in all industries, regions,” Laziz Kudratov, head of MIIT, said in an interview with O‘zbekiston 24.

As part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, investment agreements and export contracts worth $26.6 billion were signed. These included large projects in the fields of construction, green energy, mining, infrastructure development, chemical, food, textile and healthcare.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to develop a roadmap for the implementation of proposals and initiatives voiced by foreign investors during the forum, as well as at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Investors under the President.
