Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC Bakhodir Sidikov was elected to the post of head of the federation at an extraordinary reporting and election conference of the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation, the NOC website reported.
Secretary General of the Federation Kamoliddin Ruzimuhammedov presented a report on the preparation of the Uzbekistan national team for the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. In addition, the former head of Uzbekneftegaz Mekhriddin Abdullayev was released from the post of chairman of the federation at his own request.
The executive committee of the organization nominated the current chairman of the board of Uzbekneftegaz JSC Sidikov for the post of head of the organization.
“The conference participants unanimously approved the candidacy of Bakhodir Sidikov and he was elected to the post of chairman of the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan,” the report reads.
NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov noted that Sidikov has an excellent reputation as a person who loves sports and always supports the popularization of mass sports. According to him, the elected head of the federation “in the future will be able to take the development of athletics in our country to a new level”.
Sidikov noted that he will try with all his might to justify the trust placed in him and will make every effort to ensure that the athletes of the national team diligently prepare for the Summer Olympic Games and perform well in these important competitions.
