Bread loaf price rises by 200 soums in Tashkent

The new price for a loaf of bread in the capital reached 3,000 soums. A year and a half ago, the Ministry of Finance stated that a loaf would not cost more than 2,800 soums if the price of wheat did not exceed 3,000 soums.

In some stores in Tashkent, a loaf of bread has been selling for 3,000 soums for a week now.

It should be recalled that in June 2022, the price of bread doubled, from 1,400 – 1,600 soums to 2,800 soums per loaf.

In May 2022, the head of the department of the Ministry of Finance, Tulkin Mirzaev, stated that the cost of tin bread would not exceed 2,800 soums if the price of wheat did not exceed 3,000 soums.

“If the price of wheat does not exceed 3,000 soums, then the price of a loaf of bread will not exceed 2,800 soums. That is, it will not exceed the market price. This situation is observed only in Tashkent. In some regions it may be cheaper, in others it may be more expensive,” Tulkin Mirzayev said.
