This prestigious organization, which unites 180 parliaments worldwide, traditionally holds its high-level assembly sessions in countries with a positive experience in parliamentarianism and stable development.
The decision to host such an expansive parliamentary-focused event for the first time in the region is attributed to the active role of the Uzbek parliament in achieving goals of stable development, harmonizing the regulatory and legal framework with international standards, promoting human rights and gender equality at the parliamentary level, and the extensive involvement of the youth in law-making activities within the Youth Parliament.
The assembly's presence in the country will offer opportunities for mutual exchange of experiences on urgent international agenda issues among parliaments, acquaint international counterparts with the activities of the Uzbek parliament, broaden parliamentary participation in implementing the strategy for the period up to 2030, achieving sustainable development goals, enhancing human rights and gender equality, expanding youth opportunities, and examining parliamentary collaboration in combating climate change.
