During the ceremony, a brief exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of Uzbekistan’s relations with the UN.
Tatyana Valova was informed about the large-scale and comprehensive reforms being carried out at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in all spheres of society, as well as about the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.
The Director General welcomed the initiatives of the country's leadership in Uzbekistan aimed at further developing the economy and improving the well-being of the population.
The visit of the head of the UN Office in Geneva to Uzbekistan in December 2022 and the thematic photo exhibition “17 Faces of Action” dedicated to the gender issue held in Tashkent were noted.
Special attention is paid to the measures taken in Uzbekistan to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially in the field of ensuring gender equality and the active participation of women in society.
According to Tatyana Valova, there is a noticeable intensification of Uzbekistan’s interaction with the UN, as well as an open and transparent dialogue with specialized structures of organizations in Geneva, especially in the human rights field.
It should be noted that the largest number is concentrated in Geneva - more than 40 large international specialized organizations, whose activities cover a wide range of issues, such as peacebuilding, human rights, sustainable development, disarmament, environment and others. The UN Office is located here, as well as the headquarters of the World Health Organization, International Labor Organization, World Trade Organization, Inter-Parliamentary Union, International Committee of the Red Cross and others.
It should be recalled that Eldiyor Toshmatov arrived in Geneva in early March and began to fulfill his duties as the permanent representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations.
