The current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UN and its specialized agencies are considered. In particular, attention is paid to the issues of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring gender equality, as well as mitigating environmental problems, including the consequences of the Aral disaster.
During the meeting, it was especially emphasized that Uzbekistan’s interaction with the UN is increasingly expanding, significant results have been achieved through cooperation in such areas as economics, science, healthcare, ecology, culture and education.
A. Guterres especially emphasized the important role of Uzbekistan in the current positive development of relations between the countries of Central Asia. “Thanks to the efforts of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Central Asia now lives in harmony, the countries dynamically cooperate in all areas. At the initiative of Uzbekistan, women in the region were also able to unite within the framework of the unique Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries, the activities of which are in good hands”.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on constructive cooperation with the UN to promote Uzbekistan’s initiatives in the international arena, support the reforms being implemented in the country, and take concrete steps to expand and deepen regional cooperation.
