Uzbekistan appoints new ambassador to Singapore

Alisher Kayumov, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, has arrived in Singapore and begun his duties, the Dunyo news agency reports.

Kayumov replaced Kahramon Shakirov, who served as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Singapore from 2018 to 2024 and concurrently to Australia (2022–2024), based in Singapore.

Prior to his appointment as ambassador to Singapore, Alisher Kayumov was an advisor to the Uzbekistan’s embassy in Germany.

Alisher Kayumov is 54 years old and graduated from Tashkent State University (currently the National University of Uzbekistan). He has spent many years working in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations (now the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade), and was an advisor on trade and economic issues at the embassy in Germany.

As an embassy advisor, Alisher Kayumov headed the diplomatic mission in Austria and at international organizations in Vienna. He also has experience in the private sector, including business abroad.
