Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on priority tasks in the field of renewable energy, the press service of the head of state reports.

The President noted that the possibilities of “green” energy exceed the needs of Uzbekistan by 10-12 times. Currently, the industry has attracted funds in the amount of $2.1 billion, and projects worth $13 billion are at the implementation stage.

In some areas, nine solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 1.6 GW, solar panels on the roofs of buildings – 457 MW, as well as several small hydroelectric power plants – 183 MW have been put into operation. This made it possible to generate an additional 5 billion kWh of electricity and save 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas.

In 2024, the share of “green” electricity in the structure of the republic’s energy balance will reach a record 15%.

This year, a three-year program for the construction of large capacities in the field of renewable energy will begin. By 2027, it is planned to launch 28 large solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 8 GW, build 944 km of power lines, six large substations, as well as 18 electric storage capacities with a capacity of 2.2 GW.

This year, the Ministry of Energy has been instructed to speed up the construction of 14 facilities.

Among them are 11 solar power plants with a capacity of 2 GW in Andijan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Namangan, Samarkand, Tashkent and Fergana regions, as well as three wind stations with a capacity of 600 MW in Bukhara and Navoi regions. For them, 500 km of power lines will be built and five substations will be expanded to connect to the network.

$50 million will be allocated for the installation of solar panels on the roofs of residential buildings and funds will be raised for another $100 million from foreign investors.

To increase the interest of entrepreneurs in installing solar panels at production facilities, additional incentives will be created.
