The regional branch of "Uzsuvta'minot" has announced plans to raise the tariffs for water supply and sewerage services for both individuals and legal entities in the Tashkent region. This decision follows a resolution passed by the region’s Council of People's Deputies on February 2.
The state enterprise attributes the increased pricing to rising costs associated with salaries, system maintenance and repairs, electricity, as well as tax liabilities and loan repayments.
The new tariffs are set to take effect from February 20, with a 17.6% increase for individuals and a 28.6% increase for legal entities for water supply. For sewerage services, the hike will be 8% for both individuals and businesses.
"Uzsuvta'minot" had previously announced tariff increases for cold water and sewerage at the end of last year in the Khorezm, Syrdarya, Samarkand, Kashkadarya regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and the city of Tashkent. On January 15, new rates were implemented in the Bukhara region.
Legislative amendments made at the end of 2023 will abolish the zero VAT rate policy for utility services provided to the population, including water and sewerage, starting April 1. The tax will be calculated at the standard rate of 12%.
