On January 30, Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the statue of the former president of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, in Tashkent.

The ceremony was held in the scientific and educational memorial complex named after Islam Karimov. It was attended by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, members of the Senate, representatives of the presidential administration and government, and the city community. Tatyana Karimova, the wife of the former president, also attended the event. 

Those gathered recited verses from the Quran and offered their prayers to the deceased.

Flowers were also laid at the statues of the first president in the cities of Samarkand and Karshi.
