Bank cash turnover in 2023 amounted to 831 trillion soums, the Central Bank reported.
Compared to the previous year, it increased by 19%. In particular, cash receipts at the cash desks of credit institutions increased by 20% and reached 414 trillion soums, or 62% of total receipts - while their share decreased.
The largest item in the volume of cash flowing into banks remains the sale of goods. However, its share is declining and now stands at 38% - 3% less than two years earlier.
Another third of revenues (138 trillion soums) were provided by banking services, and 10% (41.4 trillion soums) came from the paid services sector. Taxes and mandatory payments, as in the previous year, accounted for 2% or 8.3 trillion soums.
Total receipts from bank cash desks amount to 669 trillion soums, increasing by 28% by 2022. The share of payment terminals increased to 38% (255 trillion soums), of which 40% (102 trillion soums) were in the trade and services sector.
Cash consumption in banks over the past year increased by 17% - to 417 trillion soums. In its structure, the share of money withdrawals from cards continues to grow, which now accounts for 45% (189 trillion soums) or 3% more than 2022.
At the same time, the share of cash withdrawals in total credits to cards fell from 27% to 24%. Over the year, 789 trillion soums were received on bank cards.
The shares of cash payments of salaries (8%) and pensions with benefits (5%) continue to decline. The volume of wages paid in cash increased slightly over the year (33.3 trillion soums), but for pensions the figure decreased (20.8 trillion soums).
The total amount of cash in circulation (M0) as of January 1, 2024 amounted to 46 trillion soums, with a total money supply of 212 trillion soums. The share of cash is 21.5%, or 0.8% less than a year earlier.
