On January 19, the President signed the law on amendments and additions to the Criminal, Criminal-Procedural and Administrative Responsibility Codes.
An article has been added to the Administrative Responsibility Code, which stipulates responsibility for the illegal change of the International Unique Identification Code (IMEI) of a mobile device or the identification module of a subscriber device.
According to Article 155-3 of the Code, changing the IMEI code without the permission of the manufacturer, as well as developing, distributing or using special programs for this purpose, causes a fine of 15 (5.1 million soums) to 20 BCAs (6.8 million soums).
Changing or making a copy of the identification module of the subscriber’s device without the permission of the legal manufacturer or its legal owner will result in a fine of up to 20 BCAs.
In both of the above cases, the offending device will be confiscated. These changes will be implemented three months after the date of entry into force of the law.
