On January 5, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis and members of the public group for the prevention of torture made a monitoring visit to correctional colony No. 11, located in the city of Navoi.

During the visit, they talked with detainees, including Dauletmurat Tadjimuratov, who is serving a sentence in this colony for his involvement in the Nukus riots in 2022.

Tadjimuratov told the Ombudsman that his living conditions in the colony were fine and that food supplies and medical care were provided on time. He also stated that there were no cases of torture or harassment in the colony.

Also, during the conversation, the Ombudsman explained Tadjimuratov all of his rights.

It should be recalled that in January 2023, journalist Dauletmurat Tadjimuratov was found guilty of organizing mass riots in Nukus and sentenced to 16 years in prison. In July 2022, he organized a protest in Nukus demanding his appointment as the new head of Karakalpakstan.
