A company from the UAE intends to invest $30 million in a project for growing berries in the Andijan region, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reports.
The Agency for Agricultural Services under the Ministry of Agriculture, together with an Emirati company, will create a garden with an area of 470 hectares in the Pakhtaabad district. At the first stage, it is planned to grow blueberries in pots on an area of 20 hectares, provided with a drip irrigation system.
In the future, the project involves cultivating not only blueberries, but also raspberries and vegetable products.
When planting 4,000 bushes on one hectare, an average of 400-500 tons of harvest is expected. To protect the berries from the heat, special nets will be installed.
In November, the head of the Emirati company E20 Investment, Saeed al-Bahri, Salim al-Ameri, visited Uzbekistan. It was reported that the company plans to create an agricultural cluster in the Andijan region with a berry plantation and fisheries.
