The temporary procedure for applying a zero excise tax rate on AI-80 gasoline of domestic production and import in Uzbekistan ended on January 31, 2023.
This benefit was introduced on December 13, 2022 due to increased demand for gasoline due to restrictions on methane plants and was initially scheduled until March 1, 2023. The benefit was later extended until the end of the year.
As the Ministry of Energy reported to Kun.uz, after the end of the preferential period for excise tax, from January 1, 2024, the price for AI-80 gasoline at gas stations subordinate to Uzbekneftegaz JSC, as well as those owned by UNG Petro LLC, was set at 6,800 soum per liter.
And in private petrol stations, gasoline of this brand is sold at a higher price. The ministry submitted to the government a proposal to introduce a legal mechanism that would not allow private petrol stations to exceed the 8,000 soum threshold.
According to Uzbekneftegaz, the excise tax rate on motor gasoline imported or produced by domestic producers is 303 thousand soums per ton, the excise tax on the final consumer is 565 thousand soums per ton (or 425 soums per liter).
