Construction of 22 solar and wind power stations underway in Uzbekistan

It was reported in the publication that the ceremony of launching new “green” power plants with a total capacity of 2.4 gigawatts was held in Tashkent with the participation of the head of Uzbekistan and foreign investors.

“Five solar and one wind power plant were put into operation in six regions of the republic,” the material says. “For the first time, solar power plants with a total capacity of 200 megawatts were launched in Navoi and Samarkand regions under the terms of public-private partnership at the expense of direct foreign investments”.

The article mentions that the UAE company Masdar completed the implementation of projects for the construction of three modern photoelectric power plants with a total capacity of 900 megawatts in Jizzakh, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions. The first row of the wind power plant with a capacity of 500 megawatts was completed and commissioned in the Tomdi district, Navoi region.

Kazakhstan e-publication also reported that the construction work was completed in just nine months. As it was reported, at the moment work is being carried out on construction projects of 22 solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 9 gigawatts in Uzbekistan.

“In general, it is planned to increase the capacity of “green” power plants to 27 gigawatts in Uzbekistan by 2030. This will save 25 billion cubic meters of natural gas and reduce the release of harmful substances into the atmosphere by 34 million tons every year,” Kazinform wrote.
