State Security Service officers prevented several cases related to the sale of counterfeit foreign currency. In particular, a resident of the Surkhandarya region was detained while selling counterfeit $19,250. He tried to sell 385 units of counterfeit $50 bills for real $10,000.
During the pre-investigation check, it turned out that he purchased them from a resident of the Kashkadarya region, who imported them from Russia. He was also detained.
A similar incident occurred in the Andijan region. Two residents of the Kurgantepa district tried to sell counterfeit $500 thousand banknotes for real $325 thousand. They were detained when they first planned to sell $7.6 thousand imported from Kyrgyzstan.
Another fact was suppressed in the capital. During an inspection of a Lacetti car at the “Erkin” checkpoint in Chilanzar district, counterfeit $8.9 thousand bills were found in the possession of a passenger previously convicted of fraud.
It turned out that the detainee was trying to sell counterfeit money in Tashkent that was made in Turkey and imported into Uzbekistan through Kyrgyzstan.
On the above facts, criminal cases have been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
