Bills to increase for large household electricity consumers from November 1
If consumption exceeds 1,000 kWh per month, increasing factors will be applied.

From November 1, Uzbekistan will introduce increasing coefficients for large household consumers of electricity, press secretary of the Ministry of Energy Khasan Toshkhodjayev said.
The official emphasized that the basic tariff for energy supply for the population will remain at the level approved in 2019 – 295 soums per kilowatt-hour.
The changes will only affect subscribers who use over 1,000 kWh of energy per month. According to the Ministry of Energy, these account for less than 2% of the 7.58 million total number of household consumers.
For different volumes of consumption, the following coefficients are introduced:
• from 1 to 5 thousand kWh, the tariff will increase by 2 times (up to 590 soums);
• from 5 to 10 thousand kWh – 3 times (885 soums);
• over 10 thousand kWh – 4 times (1180 soums).
Each of the coefficients concerns only the volume of consumption above the designated threshold. For example, for a subscriber who has used 1200 kWh of electricity per month, the double tariff applies only to 200 kWh.
Reportedly, at the current tariff, the second consumer would pay 1,430,750 soums and receive 1,135,750 soums in subsidies. For the third and fourth cases, subsidies will amount to 3.78 million and 6.25 million soums, respectively.
The Ministry of Energy pursues the goal of stimulating Uzbek citizens to save energy, Toshkhodjayev said. In addition, new measures should contribute to the fight against the shadow economy.
