111.4 billion soums worth of electricity and natural gas embezzled in September
Illegal use of electricity and natural gas worth 111 billion 428 million soums was detected in Uzbekistan during the month of September. The majority of such cases occurred in Samarkand, Fergana and Tashkent regions.

In September, as a result of the illegal use of electricity and natural gas by some consumers, 111 billion 428 million soums were damaged in the system, the Ministry of Energy reported.
During the control measures carried out in September by Uzenergoinspektsiya under the Ministry in cooperation with law enforcement agencies and specialists of electricity and gas supply enterprises, 911 cases of illegal use of natural gas and electricity by consumers were detected.
As a result of embezzling 94 million 533 thousand cubic meters of natural gas (91 billion 57 million soums) and 42 million 961 thousand kWh of electricity (20 billion 371 million soums), it was decided to collect a total of 111 billion 428 million soums for recovering damages in the system.
Allegedly, the majority of cases of illegal use are registered in Samarkand, Fergana and Tashkent regions.
According to the Ministry, this volume of natural gas is equal to the monthly consumption of 472 thousand 665 households, and electricity – 214 thousand 805 households.
Actions were taken against the violating consumers in the prescribed manner, and relevant documents were submitted to the law enforcement agencies.
